DELETED ORGANIZATION OF AZURE DEVOPS ARE STILL IN PENDING DELETION

I am the owner of these soft-deleted Azure DevOps organizations. I want to permanently delete them immediately because they are consuming my organization quota. Please perform/request permanent deletion (hard delete) of these organizations

@Allan Solomon Mejia 's description of the deletion window matches what's documented — deleting an Azure DevOps organization is a soft delete by design: the organization is disabled and recoverable for 28 days, after which it and its data are permanently deleted, and in rare cases the backend deletion can take up to 70 days due to retries across multiple data sources. I haven't found any public documentation describing a self-service or support-assisted method to bypass the retention period. Delete an organization

On the quota side, it's worth setting expectations before you open a case. The Organization FAQ states that for Microsoft Entra ID (work or school) accounts the number of organizations that can be created varies, and Azure DevOps limits the total based on the Azure subscription and usage history. If the limit for an account is reached, no more organizations can be created by that account until the limit resets over time — and specifically, support can't manually increase the limit. The documented option when you need an organization urgently is to create it under a different Azure subscription. (Personal Microsoft accounts are limited to a single organization.) Also seconding Allan's last point: don't restore the organizations and delete them again — that restarts the retention clock rather than shortening it.

Based on the available documentation, the practical options are to use a different Azure subscription (where applicable) or wait for the retention period to complete.

Azure DevOps organization deletion is intentionally a soft-delete process. After you delete an organization, it remains disabled and recoverable for 28 days before Azure DevOps permanently deletes the organization and its data. In rare cases, backend deletion can take up to 70 days because of retries across multiple data sources.

The current Azure DevOps UI doesn't offer a documented self-service option to bypass this retention period and immediately hard-delete an organization.

If the pending organizations are preventing you from creating another organization because of your quota, I recommend opening an Azure DevOps support request and explaining that the soft-deleted organizations are consuming your organization quota. Support can confirm whether they can adjust the quota or whether any backend action is available for your account.

Otherwise, you'll need to allow the normal deletion process to complete.

Also, don't restore and delete the organizations again. That just restarts the deletion process instead of speeding it up.
