One Note Launching At Boot

If OneNote is disabled in Task Manager > Startup apps and still starts, the most likely cause is that it is being launched from the Startup folder rather than only from the Startup apps list.

Try this:

1. Press Win + R.
2. Enter %AppData% and press Enter.
3. Go to: Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs > Startup
4. Delete any shortcut related to OneNote or Send to OneNote.
5. Restart Windows and check whether it still launches.

If the entry is specifically Send to OneNote, removing its shortcut from that Startup folder can stop it from auto-starting even when it has already been disabled elsewhere.

2. Search for msconfig and open System Configuration.
3. On Services, select Hide all Microsoft services.
4. Enable only part of the remaining services, restart, and test.
5. Use the same process to narrow down the specific service or startup item.
6. On the Startup tab, select Open Task Manager and test startup items in groups until the triggering item is identified.

After troubleshooting, reset Windows to normal startup:

1. Open msconfig.
2. On General, select Normal Startup.
3. On Services, clear Hide all Microsoft services, select Enable all, and select Apply.
4. On Startup, open Task Manager and re-enable the items that were disabled.
5. Restart the computer.
