I am experiencing an issue with my mouse on Windows 11; after formatting the machine, the mouse cursor automatically switched to a Windows 98-style version. I’ve seen other users report that this error is caused by the KB5120998 update. I have already tried uninstalling it, using Advanced Startup, running sfc /scannow, and DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth in the Command Prompt, and modifying settings via the Control Panel, but nothing has worked. I would like to know if there will be a fix for this update.

Hello Eduardo Gnann,

I understand that after resetting Windows 11, your mouse pointer changed to an older Windows 98-style cursor. This behavior matches a known issue affecting Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2; it is still under investigation, and no fix date has been announced. User's image
