My personal subscription is expiring next week and I've tried joining my husband's family subscription (with his invitation). The link won't work and I can't join.

Any suggestions?

If the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is still active, the shared Microsoft 365 Family benefit may not appear yet. Turning off recurring billing is enough to let the Personal subscription expire at the end of the current term; cancelling does not end it immediately.

Recommended steps:

Make sure recurring billing is turned off for the Personal subscription so it does not renew.
Verify that the Family invitation was accepted with the same Microsoft account that currently has the Personal subscription.
Wait until the Personal subscription expires next week. The Family subscription typically becomes available after the Personal subscription ends.
After expiration, sign in and check the Services/Subscriptions page to confirm the Family benefit appears.
If Office apps show an expired or deactivated license, open an app such as Word, go to File > Account, and use Update License, then sign in again.
If the invitation link still does not work after the Personal subscription expires, have the Family owner remove the sharing and send a new invitation, then accept it again.

What does not change:

Files in OneDrive remain with the same Microsoft account.
If the same Microsoft account is used, files are not lost during the move from Personal to Family.
A Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account.

If the goal is to move the subscription ownership itself to another account, that is not supported. The current subscription must expire, and the new owner must purchase Microsoft 365 Family and share it manually.
