The notebook doesn't float in the class notebook

When you click Add/Remove Students in Teams or OneNote, the class notebook that you have already created on the linked class notebook site does not appear.

If it says that there is no class notebook created, you cannot add/remove students.

What should I do?

    Hi Palmer,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, when you create a Class Notebook through a class in Microsoft Teams for Education, and later attempt to add or remove students, the Class Notebook web page displays a message indicating that your notebook cannot be found.

In this situation, I recommend creating a support ticket and contacting Microsoft Technical Support. The support team will be able to investigate the synchronization status on the backend and help determine the root cause of the issue.

To create a support ticket with Microsoft Technical Support, you will need to contact your school's administrator and provide them with the following documentation regarding how to submit a support request:

Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

If you do not know who your school's administrator is, you can refer to the following article to identify the administrator for your organization:

How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? | Microsoft Support

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

This usually happens when the notebook was created from Microsoft Teams or Microsoft 365 LTI, not as a standalone notebook in the Class Notebook Wizard.

In that case, Add/Remove Students in the Class Notebook Wizard will not list that notebook, and membership must be managed from the source that created it:

    1. If the notebook was created in Microsoft Teams, add or remove students from the class team membership in Teams.
    2. If the notebook was created through Microsoft 365 LTI in an LMS, update the LMS course roster.
    3. Only standalone Class Notebooks created from microsoft365.com or aka.ms/classnotebook can be managed in the Class Notebook Wizard.

If students were already added but are not appearing in the notebook:

    1. Open Microsoft Teams.
    2. Go to the Class team where the notebook is located.
    3. Select Class Notebook.

This triggers provisioning so new members are recognized in the notebook.

If the notebook is a standalone Class Notebook, use these steps to manage students:

    1. Sign in to microsoft365.com with the school account.
    2. Select Class Notebook > Add or remove students.
    3. Select the notebook.
    4. Add the student name, email address, or group name, then select Update.

If the notebook still does not appear and it was created in Teams, that behavior is expected because Teams-created Class Notebooks cannot be managed through the online Class Notebook Wizard.
