Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
If this is in a Microsoft 365 desktop app such as Word or Excel, check the app’s AutoCorrect capitalization setting, not only the Windows typing setting.
For Word:
- Select File > Options > Proofing.
- Open AutoCorrect Options.
- Make sure Capitalize first letter of sentences is enabled.
If text is already typed in the wrong case in Word:
- Select the text.
- Go to Home > Change Case.
- Choose Sentence case.
For Excel:
- Open the AutoCorrect settings.
- On the AutoCorrect tab, make sure Capitalize first letter of sentences is selected.
If this issue is happening in Outlook on the web, auto-capitalization may not work the same way as in Word for the web even when Microsoft Editor settings are enabled. In that case, there may be no working fix in Outlook OWA beyond manual capitalization.
