Portal crashes on ipad with HubExtension extension failed to load

I think azure portal isn’t supported on ipad safari, and the stable way is using the ios azure app or a desktop browser.

The Azure portal (the full web console) isn't officially supported on iPad. Per Microsoft's supported browsers and devices list, Safari is only supported on Mac, and for mobile/tablet management, the official recommendation is the Azure Mobile App (available for iOS), not the web portal.

That also explains why switching to Chrome on the same iPad didn't help. iOS requires every browser, Chrome included, to run on Apple's WebKit engine under the hood. If WebKit has a compatibility problem with the portal, it shows up the same way no matter which browser app you use.

Since it worked last month, something likely shifted on one side or the other: an iPadOS/Safari update changed WebKit behavior, or a portal update broke something on iOS Safari specifically, since it isn't in Microsoft's test matrix and a regression there could slip through.

A few things worth trying on the iPad itself:

1. Update iPadOS and check for a Safari update.
2. Clear Safari's website data for portal.azure.com (Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data). A stale cache or corrupted local storage is a common cause of "extension failed to load" errors on the portal.
3. Turn off any Content Blockers for portal.azure.com. Microsoft explicitly advises against running ad/content blockers on the portal.
4. Try Private Browsing to rule out a cookie or storage issue.

If none of that fixes it, switch to the Azure Mobile App for anything you need to manage from the iPad, since that's the actual supported path for tablets.
