How to disable "perfect screenshot" in the snipping tool

Recently, when trying to select an area on my screen using the snipping tool, my selection area gets a rainbow border that then presumably uses AI to make the screenshot a better fit to what I am selecting. Then I have to click "Capture" to actually copy the screenshot. I have looked all over but can't figure out how to disable this so my selection is immediately copied and I can skip the AI resizing of my selection and skip having to click the extra "capture" button. Please tell me how to disable this setting. (Windows 11)

It sounds like the new Perfect Screenshot feature in Snipping Tool is enabled. This feature automatically adjusts the capture area and requires you to click "Capture" before the screenshot is taken.

Before suggesting steps, could you confirm:

Is your device a Copilot+ PC (Snapdragon X, AMD Ryzen AI, or Intel Core Ultra with NPU)?
Are you starting the capture with Windows + Shift + S, the Print Screen key, or from within the Snipping Tool app?

In the meantime, please try these quick checks:

Open Snipping Tool
Start a new rectangular snip
Look for the Perfect Screenshot button on the capture toolbar (it may appear as a sparkle/AI icon)
If it is highlighted, click it to turn it off and then try taking another screenshot

You can also temporarily bypass the feature by:

Pressing Windows + Shift + S
Selecting Rectangular Snip
Capturing normally without enabling the Perfect Screenshot option

For reference, I do have a copilot laptop and the perfect screenshot feature is activated whether I am using the snipping tool via windows+shift+S (which is how I always use it), or print screen, or the app itself. I guess I was always so quick to grab a screenshot that I never realized there was another toolbar after doing windows+shift+s but before making my area selection.
