when opening my MacBook Pro running Tahoe as its MAC 0S I had seen the one drive icon at the top. When logging in today I do not see the one drive small icon at the top of my external hard drive.

On a Mac, the OneDrive icon should appear in the top menu bar. If it is missing, OneDrive is usually not running.

    Try these steps:

    1. Use Spotlight to search for OneDrive and open it.
    2. If OneDrive opens, sign in if prompted and complete setup.
    3. If the icon still does not appear, go to Applications > OneDrive.
    4. Right-click OneDrive and select Show Package Contents.
    5. Open Contents > Resources.
    6. Double-click ResetOneDriveApp.command. If using the standalone app, use ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command.
    7. Start OneDrive again and finish the setup process.

If the icon appears but looks faded or greyed out, that means OneDrive is not signed in or setup has not completed. In that case, start OneDrive from Finder or Spotlight and sign in again.

If OneDrive prompts that a folder already exists when signing in again, select Use this folder.

To avoid app-version issues on Mac, make sure only one version of OneDrive is installed. Running both the standalone and App Store versions side by side is not supported.

Also make sure the app is up to date by installing the latest OneDrive app for Mac.

    Hi, Debra DeLor

The missing cloud icon and “OneDrive 2” folder may be separate issues. “OneDrive 2” often means macOS created another local sync location, not necessarily another account.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

In Finder, press Shift + Command + G, enter ~/Library/CloudStorage, and open each OneDrive folder. If one folder shows a banner with a Delete button, remove that inactive sync location. Do not manually delete either folder until you compare its files with OneDrive.com.

Open System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions. Make sure OneDrive is allowed under Open at Login and under any background-app section. Restart the Mac afterward.

If Finder is showing “OneDrive 2,” open Finder > Settings > Sidebar and confirm Cloud Storage is enabled. You can remove an outdated sidebar shortcut by dragging it out, then add the correct folder from ~/Library/CloudStorage. This only removes the shortcut, not your files.

Parallels does not need its own Mac OneDrive folder. It is recommended that you confirm which folder contains the latest files before removing any duplicate location.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
