When editing pictures in PowerPoint, turn off automatic generation of AI editing tools

Hello,

In the case of 'Remove Background' while editing pictures in PowerPoint, you could previously select an area directly and remove the background as much as you wanted.

At some point, when you select 'Remove Background' while editing the picture, an AI-generated content (EDIT PICTURE) pop-up window appears.

Please tell me how to prevent this task window from appearing

    A supported workaround is to add the classic Remove Background command to the Quick Access Toolbar so the older tool is used instead of the Edit Picture window.

    Steps on Mac:

    1. Select the three-dot icon at the right end of the Quick Access Toolbar.
    2. Choose More Commands.
    3. In Ribbon & Toolbar, change Choose command from to All Commands.
    4. Scroll to Remove Background and select it.
    5. Select Add.
    6. Select OK.

    After that, use the Remove Background command from the Quick Access Toolbar.

    With the classic tool, the picture background is marked in magenta and the manual controls are available:

    • Mark Areas to Keep
    • Mark Areas to Remove
    • Keep Changes

    If the command still behaves unexpectedly on Mac, one reported troubleshooting step is to test in a new macOS user account from System Settings > Users & Groups to see whether the issue is profile-specific.

    Based on my research, the Designer Editor integration in PowerPoint does not include a supported setting that allows users to disable it. From my understanding, this AI-powered image editing feature is built into PowerPoint and currently cannot be turned off independently.
