Controlling settings, permissions, and membership within Teams and channels
Hi Alex,
Thank you for reaching out.
To connect an AXIS I8307-VE to Microsoft Teams, the customer will need the following for each device:
- AXIS I8307-VE running AXIS OS 12.6 or later
- One AXIS Client for Unified Communication Systems license
- One dedicated account in the customer’s Microsoft 365 tenant, for example
******@company.com - One Microsoft Teams Shared Space license assigned to that account. This license was previously called Microsoft Teams Shared Devices
- Microsoft SIP Gateway enabled in the Teams calling policy assigned to the device account
- The appropriate regional Microsoft SIP Gateway provisioning URL configured on the Axis device
- Network and firewall access to the required Microsoft 365 and Teams services
There is no separate Microsoft “provisioning account.” The customer creates a dedicated Microsoft 365 account for the intercom. This account is then used to pair and sign the device into Microsoft Teams.
The provisioning address is simply Microsoft’s regional SIP Gateway URL. It is entered in the Axis device’s Auto Provisioning settings.
The administration is divided between two Microsoft portals:
- Microsoft 365 admin center: Create the dedicated device account and assign its license.
- Teams admin center: Enable SIP device calling, assign calling policies, manage telephone numbers and voice routing, and monitor the intercom under Teams devices > SIP devices.
If the intercom only needs to call users within Microsoft Teams, PSTN service may not be required. If it must call or receive calls from mobile phones, landlines, or other external telephone numbers, the customer will also need:
- A telephone number
- PSTN connectivity through Microsoft Calling Plan, Operator Connect, or Direct Routing
- Any required emergency-calling configuration
In summary, the standard requirement is one Axis application license, one dedicated Microsoft 365 account, and one Teams Shared Space license per intercom, plus PSTN service if external telephone calling is needed.
