Hello,

I am experiencing a new problem with OneDrive folders. I am using my work account via a web browser. I do not sync OneDrive to my desktop.

I am unable to delete or rename folders. This is is the same for shared folders or folders that I have just created and not shared. When I try to rename a folder a red message says 'Invalid request parameters for DriveItemUpdate'.

When I try to delete a folder, a box appears that says 'Invalid statement, Resultcode: 1, no such table: list_site_rows'

I've not experienced this before. Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Good day,

Based on the error messages you've shared, this appears to be more of a OneDrive web interface or browser site-data issue rather than a permissions or synchronization problem. The reference to list_site_rows suggests that OneDrive may be attempting to use invalid or corrupted data stored in the browser. Since the issue also affects newly created folders, it is less likely to be related to folder ownership or sharing permissions.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1/ Test in a private browser window

Open an InPrivate/Incognito browser window, sign in to Microsoft 365, and then try to create, rename, and delete a temporary folder.

2/ Clear Microsoft 365 site data

First, sign out of Microsoft 365. Then remove cookies and site data for the following domains:

  • office.com
  • microsoft365.com
  • sharepoint.com
  • onedrive.com
  • microsoftonline.com

In Microsoft Edge:

Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all cookies and site data

Search for each domain listed above and remove the associated data.

Afterward, close all browser windows, reopen the browser, sign back in, and test again.

3/ Rule out naming restrictions

Create a folder with a simple name, such as: TestFolder123

OneDrive does not allow certain characters in file or folder names, including: " * : < > ? / \ |

Leading or trailing spaces in names are also not supported.

4/ Temporarily disable browser extensions

Some browser extensions can interfere with OneDrive's web interface. Temporarily disable:

  • Ad blockers
  • Privacy or tracking blockers
  • Script blockers
  • Security-related browser extensions
  • Password managers that modify webpages

Then refresh OneDrive and test again. Note that some extensions are automatically disabled when using an InPrivate or Incognito window.

If the issue continues:

If you are using a work or school account and the issue persists after trying the steps above, I recommend contacting your organization's IT Help Desk or IT administrator for further investigation.

When raising a support ticket, please include:

  • The exact error messages displayed
  • The approximate date and time of each failed attempt
  • Browser name and version
  • Whether the issue occurs in InPrivate/Incognito mode
  • Whether the issue occurs in another browser or on another device
  • Whether other users are experiencing the same behavior
  • A screenshot of the error (with any personal information removed)
  • The OneDrive URL (excluding any confidential folder or file names)

If you’re unsure who your IT admin is, you can find guidance here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Please let me know the results of the above tests, and I'll be happy to assist further.

Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you a wonderful day ahead.
