A family of Microsoft presentation graphics products that offer tools for creating presentations and adding graphic effects like multimedia objects and special effects with text.
To create and work on a PowerPoint presentation:
- Open PowerPoint.
- In the left pane, select New.
- Choose one of these:
- Blank Presentation to start from scratch
- A template to use a prepared design
To add slides:
- In the thumbnail pane on the left, select the slide that the new slide should follow.
- On the Home tab, select New Slide.
- If needed, select Layout and choose the slide layout.
To add text:
- Click inside a text box or placeholder.
- Type the content.
- To format it, go to the Home tab and use options like Bold, Italic, Underline, Font, or Increase Font Size.
- To make bullet points, select the text and choose Bullets or Numbering.
To add pictures or shapes:
- Go to the Insert tab.
- Select Pictures to insert an image.
- Or select Shapes, Icons, 3D Models, SmartArt, or Chart to add visual elements.
To add speaker notes:
- At the bottom of the window, select Notes.
- Type notes in the Notes pane below the slide.
To present the slideshow:
- Open the Slide Show tab.
- Select From Beginning to start from the first slide.
- Press Esc to exit the slideshow.
Helpful tips:
- Keep slide text short and simple.
- Use pictures or charts to support the message.
- Use a clear font size that is easy to read.
- Choose a consistent theme or template.
