For a Facebook account issue, recovery and appeal need to go through Facebook/Meta support.
For the security side on the PC and Microsoft account, the supported steps are:
- Run a full malware scan on the PC before changing any passwords.
- Open Windows Security
- Go to Virus and threat protection
- Select Scan options > Full scan > Scan now
- Keep antivirus protection updated and enabled
- Change passwords after the scan completes.
- If the Microsoft account password may also be exposed, change it immediately.
- If sign-in fails, use the password reset flow.
- If sign-in verification is being blocked or codes are not arriving, try:
- another verification method already connected to the account
- another network such as switching between Wi‑Fi and cellular
- waiting 24 hours before retrying, and avoid repeated attempts because that can extend the block
- Review account security settings.
- Check for unexpected connected accounts, forwarding, or automatic replies on the Microsoft account.
- Turn on two-step verification where available to reduce the chance of further compromise.
- If suspicious pop-ups or “support” messages appear, do not call the number or give remote access. Those are common tech support scams.
A “really high level” antivirus install is not the key step. The important action is to make sure antivirus is running, updated, and that a full scan is completed before password changes.
