There is no documented self-service “reset the whole account” option for an Azure account in this situation.
Supported paths are:
- Try signing up again for a new Azure subscription.
- Before sign-up, verify that the Azure profile information is correct, including contact email address, street address, and telephone number.
- Verify the credit card information is correct.
- Make sure there is not already a Microsoft account with the same information.
- If sign-up fails with account or directory errors, use the matching fix:
- If the message says “We cannot proceed with sign-up due to an issue with your account. Please contact billing support”:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account center.
- Open Your info.
- Verify billing and shipping details are completed and valid.
- Make sure the credit card billing address matches bank records.
- If it still fails, try a different browser or private browsing mode.
- If the message says “You are not eligible for an Azure subscription”:
- Recheck profile details, credit card details, and confirm the same information is not already tied to another Microsoft account.
- If the message says “Your current account type is not supported” or “Account belongs to a directory that cannot be associated with an Azure subscription”:
- The account is associated with an unmanaged Microsoft Entra directory.
- Fix this by performing an IT Admin Takeover / unmanaged directory takeover, or sign up by using another account.
- If the message says “We cannot proceed with sign-up due to an issue with your account. Please contact billing support”:
- If the browser keeps signing in to the wrong account or old state:
- Clear browser cache and cookies.
- Use private browsing mode such as Edge InPrivate or Chrome Incognito.
- If the account is still unusable after these steps, open a Microsoft support request.
- The documented guidance for unresolved subscription sign-up problems is to contact billing/support.
A free trial cannot be activated again if there was already an Azure subscription in the past. In that case, the supported option is to sign up for a pay-as-you-go subscription.
