This usually points to browser-specific sign-in data or settings in Google Chrome, not a problem with the Microsoft account itself, since the same account works in Safari.

Most common causes supported by Microsoft guidance:

    1. Cached cookies or site data in Chrome Old or corrupted sign-in cookies can cause loops or failed authentication.
    2. Cookie/privacy settings blocking sign-in Microsoft sign-in can fail if cookies are blocked or if browser privacy settings prevent required cross-site cookies.
    3. Extensions or VPN/privacy tools interfering Ad blockers, script blockers, privacy extensions, or VPNs can interrupt the sign-in flow.
    4. A Chrome-specific app or browser issue Microsoft also notes that sign-in issues can come from the app, browser, device, or network.

    Recommended troubleshooting path:

    1. Test in a Chrome Incognito window If sign-in works there, the issue is likely stored cookies, cached data, or an extension.
    2. Clear Chrome cookies and cached data for Microsoft sign-in sites Clear data for these sites:
      • microsoft.com
      • microsoftonline.com
      • login.microsoftonline.com
      • microsoft365.com
      • m365.cloud.microsoft
    3. Check Chrome cookie settings In Google Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies and allow cookies, or add exceptions for the affected Microsoft sites.
    4. Temporarily disable privacy/ad-blocking/script-blocking extensions or VPN Then try signing in again.
    5. Try a different network If on Wi‑Fi, switch to mobile data or another network.
    6. If a specific Microsoft app is involved, update or reinstall it Microsoft recommends reinstalling the latest version if the error appears in an app.
    7. Use the Sign-in Helper tool If Chrome still fails, use the Microsoft Sign-in Helper to identify account-specific problems.

If the issue is only on Google/Chrome and Safari works consistently, the fastest fix is usually clearing Chrome site data and checking cookie/privacy settings.

    Hi, Hello

Since the account signs in through Safari, the account and password are probably fine. The problem is more likely related to how the Google app or Chrome is opening the Microsoft sign-in page.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

Open Chrome directly and enter https://account.microsoft.com in the address bar. Avoid opening the sign-in page from Google search results or inside the Google app, as its built-in browser may not complete the Microsoft sign-in redirect correctly.

Update Chrome and your device’s operating system, then restart the device. Older browser components can have trouble loading newer authentication pages.

Make sure JavaScript is enabled in Chrome. Microsoft’s sign-in page requires it to complete authentication.

Check that the device’s Date & Time is set automatically. An incorrect clock can cause secure sign-in requests to be rejected.

If this is on a computer, create a new Chrome profile and test the sign-in there. This provides a fresh browser configuration without changing your current profile.

If Chrome asks whether the account is Personal or Work or school, choose the type that matches the account. Selecting the wrong account type can send the sign-in to the wrong service.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
