In new Outlook for Windows, archiving an entire folder is not supported through the manual archive feature used in classic Outlook.

What is supported in new Outlook for Windows:

    1. Open the folder.
    2. Select the messages to archive.
    3. Select Archive on the toolbar.
    4. The messages are moved to the Archive folder.

    Important details:

    • In new Outlook for Windows, AutoArchive is not available.
    • For Microsoft 365, Exchange, Exchange Online, and Outlook.com accounts, archived items always go to the default Archive folder.
    • The archive location cannot be changed for Microsoft 365 or Exchange accounts.
    • Using Archive does not reduce mailbox size.

If the goal is to archive older items from a whole folder by date, that workflow is available in classic Outlook: File > Info > Tools > Clean up old items > Archive this folder and all subfolders.

    Hi Rob,

Regarding your concern, the forum AI-suggested answer does provide appropriate information: as of now, New Outlook doesn't have the same "Archive this folder and all subfolders" command as classic Outlook has. However, you can still archive an entire folder in New Outlook following these recommended steps:

    • Open New Outlook and select the folder you want to archive.
    • Click any message in the folder > press Ctrl+A to select all messages.
    • Select Archive on the toolbar > this moves all the selected messages into the mailbox’s standard Archive folder. The original folder itself and its subfolder structure will not be moved.

I understand this may not be the answer you were hoping for. As a forum user, I don’t have visibility into the product's internal design/structure or the ability to modify how the product behaves.

If you see this feature should be improved or this is affecting your workflow, I strongly recommend submitting your feedback through the Outlook · Community. The product development team doesn't actively monitor this forum, so this is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered for future improvements.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern.
