installed outlook on Mac; no contacts or calendar displayed

Emails are available, but contacts nor calendar is displayed. Create 'new' is greyed out on both.

It is a new Mac laptop, and I'm on a one month trial.

    Ok. they are now displaying.

    But neither previous contacts nor calendar were transferred over.

    Since email works but both Contacts and Calendar are empty and “New” is greyed out, the most likely cause is that the account was added as IMAP/POP. Those account types normally sync email only, not contacts or calendars.

    Please open Outlook > Settings > Accounts and check the account type.

    If it shows IMAP or POP, remove the account and add it again using Outlook > Settings > Accounts > Add Account. If it is Gmail, Yahoo or iCloud, use the provider sign-in instead of setting it up manually as IMAP.

    Since Contacts and Calendar are not populating and “New” is greyed out, please first update both macOS and Outlook to the latest version. Microsoft recently documented an issue where older Mac/Office versions can enter “reduced functionality mode,” which prevents creating new items:
