Since the issue affects multiple Microsoft sign-in experiences, including Windows account sign-in, Microsoft Store, Xbox, Minecraft Launcher and Microsoft Edge, I'd like to suggest a few additional checks that may help identify whether a Windows authentication component is damaged.
1.Repair Windows system files:
Please open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following commands one at a time:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After that completes, run:
sfc /scannow
These tools can repair corrupted Windows files that may affect Microsoft account authentication and Store-related components.
2.Check the Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant service:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
- Locate Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant.
- Verify that the service is running.
- If it is stopped, start it and test the sign-in again.
3.Perform a Clean Boot test:
A third-party security application, VPN, network filter, or background service can sometimes interfere with Microsoft account authentication.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig and press Enter.
- On the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and select Disable all.
- Open the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager.
- Disable all non-essential startup items.
- Restart the PC and test Microsoft account sign-in again.
*Disclaimer: A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.
These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get back on track.
Could you also share your Windows version and build number? You can get this by pressing Windows + R, typing winver and posting a screenshot or the information shown in the About Windows window. This may help determine whether the issue is related to a specific Windows 10 build.
As a side note, Windows 10 has reached end of support for most devices. While this may not be the cause of the issue, it's worth keeping in mind during troubleshooting and considering an upgrade to a supported version of Windows if your device is eligible.
I look forward to your update.
