Unable to fix corrupt EhStorPwdDrv.dll on 26300.8935 and cant update due to this

Keep getting the following error -

2026-08-24 16:56:54, Info DEPLOY [Pnp] Corrupt file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\UMDF\EhStorPwdDrv.dll

2026-08-24 16:56:54, Error DEPLOY [Pnp] Failed repairing file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\UMDF\EhStorPwdDrv.dll: 160

in the CBS.log whenever I run SFC. Have tried in safe mode, mounting a compiled build (since I cant download the iso, direct) and when I run a DISM and point to the compiled image it runs and says 100% complete no problems until I run SFC and then I get this "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at

windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline

repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."

I have tried taking ownership of this file, manually replacing it, etc. I cant find a ISO of 26300.8935 on the window insider program either - It does not exist. I cant update to the new image because it keeps erroring out. Please help!

    Hi there,

    Build 26300.8935 is an Insider Preview build, and the EhStorPwdDrv.dll SFC error does not necessarily mean that the DLL itself needs to be manually replaced. Since you have already tried DISM, SFC, Safe Mode, and manual replacement, repeatedly modifying the protected system file is not recommended.

    First, run:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Then restart Windows and run:

    sfc /scannow

    If SFC still reports EhStorPwdDrv.dll, the safer solution is an in-place repair using an ISO that matches your current Insider build/channel. Using a different or older ISO can cause Windows Setup to fail, particularly on Insider builds.

    Because 26300.8935 may no longer be available through the normal Insider ISO channels, check Windows Update for the latest build available to your Insider channel. If Windows cannot update or repair itself, backing up your files and performing a clean installation may ultimately be necessary.

    Hi Triumphus04,

    Go to Reset this PC in settings, DISM and SFC won't repair your issue.

    MS don't release .ISO for each update so the only .ISO you get for your build is 26300.9212 at this moment, so you can use this if you wanted to.
