Pipeline and copydata activity is not availble or may be not showing in lakehouse

Pipeline is not available or may not be showing in the lakehouse. I am following coursera DP-600 course. While practicing Copy Data Activity, I am not able to follow as Fabric trial version I am using. or may be some setting issues.

This is not a limitation of the Fabric Trial capacity.

Based on your screenshot, you are currently inside the Lakehouse Explorer and looking at a folder under Files. The Get data menu shown there is intended for loading or managing files in the Lakehouse, which is why you only see options such as Upload files, New shortcut, and New subfolder.

A pipeline is a separate data factory item in Fabric and is not created from within the Lakehouse file browser.

To follow the DP600 lab and access the Copy Data experience:

Navigate back to your Fabric workspace.
Select + New item.
Search for and create a Data Pipeline.
Open the pipeline.
On the pipeline canvas, select Copy data (or use the Copy Data Assistant, depending on the current Fabric UI experience).
Configure your source and choose the PAYMENTS Lakehouse as the destination.

Fabric documentation confirms that pipelines are created as workspace items and that copy operations are performed within a pipeline rather than from the Lakehouse Explorer->

One additional point: many DP600 training materials and screenshots were created using earlier Fabric interfaces. The Fabric UI has evolved considerably, so the steps and screen locations may look different even though the underlying functionality remains the same.

Based on your description, this behavior is not related to the Microsoft Fabric Trial capacity. The issue occurs because you are currently working within the Lakehouse Files area. In this view, Fabric only provides file-management operations such as Upload files, New shortcut, and New subfolder, so Pipeline and Copy Data options will not be visible.

In Microsoft Fabric, a Data Pipeline is a separate Data Factory item and is not created from within the Lakehouse Explorer. To use Copy Data, you must first create or open a Data Pipeline from your workspace.

To continue with the DP-600 lab:

Navigate to your Fabric workspace.

Select + New Item.

Create a Data Pipeline.

Open the pipeline.

Select Copy Data (or Copy Data Assistant).

Configure your source and select the target Lakehouse as the destination.

Save and run the pipeline.

Additionally, many DP-600 training materials were created using earlier Microsoft Fabric user interface versions. As Fabric continues to evolve, the location and appearance of certain options may differ from the course screenshots, although the underlying functionality remains the same.

Copy data and Pipeline are created from the Data Factory experience, not from a folder inside the Lakehouse Files area.

The screenshot shows a folder path inside Lakehouse > Files > Advance Payment > PIPELINE. In that location, the available actions are file actions such as Upload files, New shortcut, and New subfolder. That is why pipeline options are not appearing there.

Use this path instead:

Open the workspace.
Create or open a Pipeline.
Add a copy activity by selecting either:
- Add pipeline activity > Copy activity, or
- Copy data > Add to canvas under the Activities tab.
In the Source tab, select an existing connection or create a new one.
In the Destination tab, choose Lakehouse.
Select an existing Lakehouse connection or create a new one.
Choose Tables or set a file path for the destination.

If the goal is to practice the DP-600 copy activity quickly, the documented sample flow is:

In a pipeline, select Copy data assistant.
Choose Sample data.
Select Public Holidays sample data.
Set destination to Lakehouse.
Enter a Lakehouse name and select Create and connect.
Choose Tables and provide a table name.
Select Save + run.

If Lakehouse itself is missing as a creation option in the workspace, one documented cause is workspace region limitation. In that case, create a new workspace in a supported region and check again whether the Lakehouse option appears.
