Microsoft Teams Essentials is a standalone business plan that includes meetings, chat, file sharing, meeting recordings/transcripts with 10 GB of cloud storage per user and supports organizations with up to 300 users. To purchase Microsoft Teams Essentials:

Scenario 1: If your company already has Microsoft 365

Contact your company's Billing Administrator to sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Go to Billing > Purchase services or Marketplace.
Search for Microsoft Teams Essentials > select the plan and choose Buy > enter the required license quantity.
Select the billing frequency and payment method then complete the purchase.
Go to Billing > Licenses or Users > Active users to assign the licenses.

When I enter my company email address, I get the message: “Looks like you need to create a new account. Let’s get you started!” I would like to know why this is happening and how I can proceed without making unnecessary changes to my existing Google Workspace setup. Is there any call support available so that i can share my queries.

Hi Amarjeet,

The message “Looks like you need to create a new account” is normally expected when your company email is hosted by Google Workspace and your organization does not yet have a Microsoft 365 business tenant. Teams Essentials uses Microsoft Entra ID to authenticate users:

A Microsoft organization/tenant for your company

A Microsoft work identity associated with your existing company email address

An administrator account to manage Teams licenses and users

This does not mean Microsoft will replace your Google Workspace account. Your Microsoft identity and Google mailbox can use the same email address, while remaining separate accounts with separate passwords.
