Since this is a Windows Insider Preview build issue, use this recovery path:
- Check whether the issue is already known for the current Insider build.
- Review the Windows Insider flight blog posts for known issues.
- Check for a newer build.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
- A newer Insider build may contain a fix.
- File feedback in Feedback Hub.
- Open Feedback Hub and report the issue.
- Include as many details, screenshots, and logs as possible.
- If the device is too unstable to use normally, recover the PC.
- Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
- Under Reset this PC, select Get started.
- If reset gets stuck, choose the cloud download option instead of local. This is a known issue on some Insider builds.
- Risk: resetting or reinstalling Windows can remove apps, drivers, and settings. Back up important files first.
- If the problem started after the current Insider build and the previous build worked, roll back.
- Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
- Under Go back to the previous version of Windows 11, select Get started.
- This is available for up to 10 days after installing the update, or until the next build is installed.
- If reset or rollback is not possible, do a clean installation using an ISO.
- This is the fresh-start option for moving to a different Insider Preview build or the latest Windows 11 version.
- Risk: a clean install removes installed apps and requires reinstalling Windows.
The supported Insider guidance for unstable preview builds is: check known issues, check for updates, submit feedback, then recover by reset, rollback, or clean install if needed.
