Word for Mac is very slow, even for new documents

I’m sorry to hear that Word for Mac is responding slowly, especially when the delay is affecting your typing in new documents.

Please try the following steps to migrate this:

1. Restart your Mac, then open Word and test a new blank document.
2. Open Word and select Help > Check for Updates. Install all available Office updates, restart Word, and test again.
3. In Word, select Tools > Templates and Add-ins. Temporarily disable any active add-ins, restart Word, and check whether performance improves.
4. Close any unnecessary background applications, particularly spelling, grammar, antivirus, clipboard, or accessibility tools, and test Word again.
