Hello

After resetting my laptop, I noticed a problem with the search bar. Whenever I click on it, some kind of JavaScript code appears instead of the normal search function. I’ve already tried a few methods to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. Is there any way to resolve this issue?error

Hi bee lee,

Since this is a public forum, we will hide your personal identifiable information, and I have sent that image of yours containing your personal identifiable information in a private message so we can work together to resolve the issue. Also, please check your private message in case you want to share another screenshot to avoid leaking your PII by click on the Private Message button right under your first post.

Your Windows might have corrupt file system and lead to the situation.

Please try fixing your system by reinstalling the current version of Windows following this article: Fix issues by reinstalling the current version of Windows.

If the problem persists, please try performing an In-place upgrade.

Disclaimer: Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides: How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

After the In-place upgrade is done, your system will get 25H2 without recent updates and you will need to run Windows Update to get the latest build.

If you have further information, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you for updating me with that information. Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.

    Hi, good day!

Since you've already tried a few troubleshooting methods, could you let me know which steps you've tried so far? This will help me avoid suggesting the same solutions again and determine the next appropriate step. Also, could you provide your current Windows 11 version and OS build by running winver? Please take a screenshot of the resulting window and post it in your next response.

I look forward to your update and am willing to collaborate with you until we resolve the issue. Keep me posted by clicking "Add comment" below.
