OneDrive personal – PowerPoint “Embed” iframes now show blank on external sites (Google Sites, local HTML)

Hi,

Since around mid‑August 2026, all of my previously working PowerPoint embeds from a personal OneDrive account no longer display on external websites.

  • I embeded PowerPoint presentations on a Google Site using the standard Share → Embed iframe code from PowerPoint for the web (OneDrive).
  • All ~40 presentations worked fine for years

As of this week, every embed shows only a blank area (no error message, no spinner) both on Google Sites and in a simple local HTML file with the same iframe.

File sharing is still set to “Anyone with the link can view”.

Regenerating new embed codes does not help.

Tested in multiple browsers and in incognito mode; result is identical.

This appears to be a change in how the Office Online Viewer (view.officeapps.live.com) handles anonymous iframe embeds for personal OneDrive accounts. Other users have reported related Office Online / embedding issues after the July/August 2026 updates.

Could Microsoft confirm whether there has been a deliberate change or regression that blocks these embeds in third‑party sites? If so, is there an officially supported way to embed personal OneDrive PowerPoint presentations on external websites going forward?

    Hello !

    Embedding OneDrive files is still a supported feature. However, you're right : since July 2026, several users on the Microsoft Community forum and on third-party forums have reported that file embedding no longer works on OneDrive.
    At this time, Microsoft has not acknowledged any issues with this feature. It's likely that this is just a temporary glitch, so I recommend that you try again periodically by regenerating the code and implementing it on your site.
