Hello Calvin Cabarrus,

I understand how frustrating it can be to keep receiving this message even though OneDrive appears to be active.

To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:

  • Does the error appear in OneDrive, Finder, or an Office app such as Word or Excel?
  • Does it affect your personal OneDrive folder or only a specific shared folder or library?
  • Can you access the affected files normally through OneDrive on the web?
  • Which versions of macOS and OneDrive are you currently using?

In the meantime, please update OneDrive and macOS, then restart your Mac. If the error appears when opening a pinned or recent Office file, try opening the file directly from Finder under Library > Cloud Storage > OneDrive, as the saved shortcut may still point to an older OneDrive location.

If the issue continues, you can also unlink and reconnect your OneDrive account. Before doing so, please make sure your recent files and changes have finished syncing to the cloud.

If possible, please share a screenshot of the complete error message, while hiding your email address and any other personal information. This will help determine whether the issue is related to OneDrive synchronization, an Office file path, or access to a particular shared library. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Try signing out of OneDrive completely and signing back in — go to the OneDrive icon in your system tray, click Settings > Account > Unlink this PC, then relink it with your Microsoft account. This usually fixes the "cannot reach" error even when OneDrive shows as active, since it's often a broken sync connection rather than an actual outage.

If that doesn't work, restart the OneDrive process directly: close OneDrive, then search "OneDrive" in the Start menu and reopen it, this forces a fresh sync handshake that often clears the error.
