Publisher and PowerPoint are very different programs for different purposes. PowerPoint is designed as a presentation application, not a desktop publishing platform.

To make a suggestion that PowerPoint work differently, please choose Help>Feedback>Make a suggestion in the program. Post your idea, then others can vote on it. Microsoft uses this feedback to prioritize their programming.
