I am trying to activate Azure for Students through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but academic verification cannot be completed.

  1. Opened the academic verification form (signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1) and submitted:
    • Country/Region: China
    • School: Henan University, China
    • School email domain: @henu.edu.cn
  2. Azure showed "verification email sent", but the email never arrived at the school mailbox. I checked the inbox, spam/junk and quarantine folders, added microsoft.com to my mailbox whitelist, waited more than 24 hours, and retried the verification in an incognito browser.
  3. Because no Azure for Students subscription was created, the Azure Portal now returns this error: interaction_required: AADSTS16000 - User account from identity provider 'live.com' does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application 'Microsoft_Azure_SupportPortalExtension' in that tenant. Trace ID: b3b000c4-21c2-4431-848b-66a77c5db500 Correlation ID: 2b006d3e-<removed PII>

    Hello,

Thank you for providing the details. Since the Azure for Students subscription has not been created, the AADSTS16000 error in the Azure Portal is likely a secondary issue. The first step is to resolve the academic verification.

Since the verification email was reportedly sent but has not arrived after checking the inbox, spam/junk, quarantine, and retrying the process, please contact your university IT/mail administrator and ask them to check the mail server logs for messages from Microsoft. The message may be blocked or quarantined before it reaches the university mailbox.

    Please also verify that:

The email address entered during Azure for Students verification is the official university-issued address.

The university mailbox is active and able to receive external messages.

Microsoft verification messages are not being blocked by the university's mail filtering system.

The verification is being attempted with the Microsoft account that you intend to associate with Azure for Students.

You can retry the verification using an InPrivate/Incognito browser after confirming the above.

If the university mail administrator confirms that the verification message is not being received or is not being blocked on their side, please use the Azure for Students support channel for further investigation of the verification status. Microsoft support can check the verification attempt and determine whether additional action is required.

    The AADSTS16000 message:

User account from identity provider 'live.com' does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services'

does not by itself indicate that the Microsoft account is invalid. In this scenario, it can occur when attempting to access Azure services before the Azure for Students subscription/tenant relationship has been successfully established.

Therefore, I recommend resolving the academic verification first rather than troubleshooting the Portal error separately.

If contacting support, include the verification email address, university name/domain, approximate time of the verification attempt, and the Trace ID/Correlation ID shown in the error. Do not post personal information publicly in the Q&A thread.

    Best regards, Abinesh
