Dear Microsoft Azure Billing & Support Team,

I am writing to formally report unauthorized Azure charges made using my stolen debit card.

I have not knowingly authorized or intentionally used the Azure services associated with these charges. I have also attempted to cancel the Azure subscription through the Azure Portal, but I am unable to do so because my account does not have the required Owner permissions.

This is an urgent unauthorized payment/fraud matter, and I request that Microsoft investigate it immediately.

Please:

  1. Immediately investigate the Azure subscription and identify the source of the unauthorized charges.
  2. Stop any further billing or charges associated with my compromised payment method.
  3. Cancel or suspend the Azure subscription responsible for these charges, or escalate the case to the appropriate Azure Billing/Fraud team if I do not have sufficient permissions to cancel it.
  4. Refund the unauthorized charges that were made without my authorization.
  5. Remove/disassociate my stolen debit card/payment method from any Azure billing account where it has been used.
  6. Provide me with a support/case reference number for this fraud investigation.

I have reported the stolen card to my bank and am taking the necessary steps to prevent further unauthorized transactions.

I am willing to provide any information required to verify my identity and investigate the transactions, including transaction dates, amounts, the last four digits of the compromised card, and the relevant Azure subscription ID.

Please treat this as an urgent fraud and billing-security matter rather than a standard subscription cancellation request.

Thank you for your immediate assistance.

Best regards,

    Hi@Akash ,

Quick clarification first: Microsoft Q&A is a community forum. Nobody here can look up your subscription, deployment IDs, charges or issue refunds. Fraud and billing cases are only handled through a support request, so here is the correct path.

    1. Bank side (you already did this). Reporting the card as stolen is the right move. Make sure you told them the card is compromised and not just disputing individual charges, because a dispute alone won't stop future fraudulent transactions. Microsoft Support
    2. Open an Azure billing support request. This is the official channel for your case and billing support is free, no paid support plan needed: Microsoft LearnMicrosoft Learn
      • Go to https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support
        • Select Issue type: Billing, pick the closest problem type, and skip any suggested refund/self-help articles by choosing "Return to support request", then fill in the details and submit. Microsoft Learn
          • In the description, state clearly this is unauthorized use of a stolen card, and include the subscription ID, transaction dates and amounts, and last 4 digits of the card. You will get a case number, which covers your points 1 to 6. Do not post card or personal details here on the forum.
          1. About the permission errors you're hitting. Those are expected. Your account only has a resource level role, and cancelling a subscription requires Owner, which is why billing shows "Unauthorized" and deletes fail with AuthorizationFailed. You don't need to fix that yourself. Once the billing/fraud team verifies your identity as the cardholder, they can suspend the subscription and remove the payment method regardless of your portal role. Also stop trying to delete the resources, leave everything as is so the investigation can see the full picture.
    3. If you can't raise a ticket from inside the portal, use https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-investigate-a-billing-charge-from-microsoft-398c5328-364c-d5e4-ea8f-f5ad60562a93 to investigate the charge and reach billing support from outside Azure.

Akash - it’s absolutely essential that you contact the bank who issued your debit card to tell them about this.
