I’m sorry for the delayed response, as I had an emergency. Anyway, you mentioned that you’ve already uninstalled the apps, but they still appear as hidden icons in the system tray, correct? If so, they may simply be leftovers after the uninstallation, as some apps don’t completely remove all of their components when they’re uninstalled. In this case, you can try resetting the notification icons on the system tray by following the steps in the page below and see if it removes them.

There were a couple of uncommon apps in my Show Hidden icon menu that I never use and wanted to remove them from the Hidden icon popup. I just uninstalled the apps and of course that removed then, but I'd like to know how to just remove an app from the Hidden icon popup if I want to de-clutter. The AI answer seems to be for removing from the task bar and I know how to do that, but it doesn't work for the Hidden menu. The hidden apps I uninstalled did not show up on the system tray list.

    Hi,

Do you mean hiding it or completely removing it? Do you know which app it is, or is it an unfamiliar app? The steps provided by the AI are for hiding it. However, if you want to completely remove it, or if the app isn’t showing in the system tray icons list, then the steps provided may not apply in your case. Please provide more details about the app so I can give you the proper steps. This is important because removing an app and preventing it from showing up may require different steps depending on what it is and how it was installed.

To remove an icon from the Hidden icon menu, move it out of the notification area visibility list instead of deleting it directly.

    For Windows 11:

    1. Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
    2. Expand Other system tray icons.
    3. Turn Off the app icon that should no longer appear in the system tray.
    4. If the icon is currently visible on the taskbar, it can also be dragged from the system tray back into the overflow area.

    For Windows 10:

    1. Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
    2. Under Notification area, select Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
    3. Turn Off the icon that should no longer appear.

If the goal is to remove a leftover icon for an app that has already been uninstalled, the provided context does not include a supported built-in delete option for the Hidden icon menu.
