A collaborative workspace app in Microsoft 365 designed to help teams co-create, stay organized, and work together in real time across apps and devices.
Common causes for Loop components being disabled in Outlook compose, even when they work in Teams:
- The Outlook item is not in the right mode.
- In Outlook, Loop components require the item to be in Reviewing or Editing mode, not Viewing mode.
- The mailbox being used does not support Loop.
- In classic Outlook, the Loop button is grayed out if at least one mailbox in the profile supports Loop, but the current mailbox the message is being sent from does not.
- Loop components are supported only with a Microsoft 365 business mailbox.
- OneDrive for Business is not connected in Outlook.
- In classic Outlook, check File > Account > Connected Services and confirm OneDrive for Business is present.
- If it is missing, sign in to OneDrive for Business.
- Loop has been turned off by the organization.
- If an admin disables Loop, the create/insert entry point in Outlook is hidden, and existing Loop content renders as a hyperlink instead of an interactive component.
- Unsupported client or platform.
- Loop components in Outlook are not supported in Safari or Teams on Mac.
- Adaptive Card-based Loop components are not available in Teams and Outlook on macOS and mobile clients.
Recommended checks:
- In Outlook, confirm the message is being edited, not just viewed.
- Verify the sending account is a Microsoft 365 business mailbox.
- In classic Outlook, go to File > Account > Connected Services and verify OneDrive for Business is connected.
- If multiple mailboxes are configured, switch the From mailbox to the business mailbox that supports Loop.
- If the button is still disabled only in Outlook, have the Microsoft 365 admin verify Loop is enabled for Outlook in the organization.
If Loop is enabled in Teams but disabled in Outlook, the most likely Outlook-specific causes are the current mailbox, missing OneDrive for Business connection, or the item being in Viewing mode.
