On Windows 11 Home, the easiest option is Notepad. Click Start, type Notepad, and open it. You’ll get a blank page where you can type letters, notes, or anything else. It saves as a simple .txt file.

If you want more formatting, such as bold, different fonts, or paragraphs, use Word if you have Microsoft 365 installed. You can also use WordPad, but Microsoft removed WordPad from newer versions of Windows 11.
