Hello, I am trying to move a section to another section as a way to archive older date that is taking space. Is there a way to move one section to an "archive" label section within one notebook. I can easily move my pages to different sections.

If I cannot, is there a way to move a section to a different notebook and simply label it as Archive? I am just having to sort through many years of collecting data and consolodate.

Hi Bounds,

If you accumulate too many notebooks with too many sections inside each notebook, use Section Groups to nest a multi-level hierarchy of sections named "Archive" within one notebook.

  1. Right-click any section tab (or right-click in the empty tab bar area) and choose New Section Group.
  2. Name it Archive.
  3. Section groups act a bit like folders on a hard drive, keeping related sections together. A section group can hold as many sections as you want, along with all their pages, so you won't lose anything.
  4. Drag the section(s) you want to archive onto the Archive group tab to move them inside it, drag sections into the new group, then click the up arrow to navigate back to the top level, or click the group's name to view the sections stored under it

Additionally, move a section to a separate notebook is also fully supported. Right-click the section tab and choose Move or Copy, a dialog box opens letting you pick the destination notebook and section group, then choose Move to relocate it (or Copy to duplicate it) into that location. You can even move it straight into an "Archive" section group inside that other notebook, combining both approaches. e.g., one dedicated "Archive" notebook with a section group per year

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.
