My Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription was canceled because of a missed payment, and I need to regain access as quickly as possible. What steps do I need to follow to reactivate or resubscribe to the service, and is it possible to restore access to my existing account and data after cancellation for non-payment?

Dear @Dalton Esme

Yes, you can reactivate your subscription and restore your existing account and data, provided it was canceled recently.

When a subscription is canceled due to non-payment, Microsoft retains your data for a grace period (typically 90 to 120 days total across Disabled and Deprovisioned states) before it is permanently deleted. During this timeframe, your data and account configurations remain intact and will automatically reconnect once the service is active.

To regain access, you must update your payment method and reactivate the subscription directly from the Microsoft 365 admin center:

  • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center using your Global Admin or Billing Admin credentials.
  • Navigate to Billing > Your products.
  • Select your canceled Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription.
  • Under the Subscription status section, select Reactivate subscription (or Reactivate).
  • In the pane that opens, select an existing valid payment method or choose Add payment method to settle the outstanding balance.
  • Click Reactivate or Save.

Please refer to this document: Reactivate your subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center

Once processed, the status will update to Active, licenses will reassign automatically, and access to Exchange mailboxes, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive data will be restored within a few minutes to a few hours.

If your subscription has been inactive for more than 120 days and fully deleted, reactivation will no longer be an option, and you will need to purchase a new subscription and re-upload your data.
