there is a circle showing it is working, lasts 3 secondsi cannot see the full description but i think the files are Microsoft Office formats (.docx, .xlsx)

    this affects all files

the version of Library Office from the program listing is 25.8.2.2 - entitled The Document Foundation

no new Writer file or Calc file can be opened

    Hi mark lloyd,

Since the issue is occurring with both LibreOffice Writer and LibreOffice Calc files, it would be helpful to determine whether the problem is with the files themselves or with LibreOffice. At the moment, there is not enough information in the post to identify the exact cause.

Could you please provide a bit more detail:

    1. What happens when you try to open the files? Do you receive an error message? If so, what does it say?
    2. Are the files LibreOffice formats (.odt, .ods), or Microsoft Office formats (.docx, .xlsx)?
    3. Does the issue affect all files or only specific ones?
    4. Which version of LibreOffice are you using?
    5. Can the same files be opened on another computer or in another application?

As a quick check, try opening a newly created Writer or Calc file. If new files open normally but older files do not, that may help narrow the issue to the affected documents rather than the application itself.

Once you provide the additional details above, the community should be able to suggest more targeted troubleshooting steps. I look forward to your update and will be happy to help further.
