A desktop publishing application from Microsoft that focuses on page layout and graphic design.
Yes. For common church document scenarios, Microsoft recommends using other Microsoft 365 apps instead of Publisher.
For documents typically shared with parishioners:
- Newsletters → Word
- Programs → Word
- Cards → Word or PowerPoint
- Brochures → Word or PowerPoint
- Flyers → Word or PowerPoint
- Certificates → Word or PowerPoint
- Labels and Envelopes → Word
Publisher can still be used with current functionality until October 1, 2026, but after that:
- it will no longer be included in Microsoft 365
- Microsoft 365 subscribers will no longer be able to open or edit Publisher files in Publisher
If the church already has Publisher files, saving them as PDF is a supported way to share them with people who do not have Publisher.
