Hello, I'm having trouble with Group.me. I haven't used it in years and need to now for comms with some volunteer thing. However when I tried to sign in on my cell phone number, it shows that as not being registered to me but someone else. Also having trouble logging in with my Gmail address. Basically something is messed up and I'm pretty sure no one should have my cell phone number registered to them but me.

A GroupMe account can only be associated with one mobile number, and each GroupMe account requires a unique phone number. If the number is already tied to another account, it cannot be used on a different GroupMe account until it is removed from the other one.

For the sign-in problem, use this path:

    1. Force-close and reopen GroupMe.
    2. Update to the latest version of GroupMe.
    3. Try signing in on the web at groupme.com if the mobile app is failing.
    4. Reset the password at forgot_password.
    5. If unsure which email is on the account, try the password reset flow with each email address that may have been used, including the Gmail address.
    6. If the correct email is found but that inbox cannot be accessed, recover access to that email account first.

If access to the old GroupMe account is still possible, the phone number can be updated from the profile settings:

    • In the web app: sign in, select the avatar, select Edit next to the current phone number, enter the new phone number, select Submit, then enter the PIN sent by text.

If the number is believed to be attached to an account that cannot be accessed, contact GroupMe support and include the phone number and any email addresses that may have been used so support can help locate the account.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

As per the information at this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/groupme/groupme-log-in-issues there seems to be some sign in issues currently. You can try the steps listed by the AI above as they are the same as in the link. However, if they do not work then please click on this link https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2248342 to contact GroupMe support as only they would would be able to help further.
