Opening and reading PDF files in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Ever since Edge 151 update PDFs opened in the browser only display a white screen with the Adobe logo in the center.
The previous options for workarounds to PDF display issues in Edge no longer work; registry entries, PDF flags, etc... forcing the PDF to download and open in Acrobat is an option but adds steps to the end user that just needs to view the document.
This only has happened with Edge 151, downgrade to version 150 and PDFs render just fine, and its only Edge since Google Chrome can render the same PDF files in the browser no problem.
We deploy the Acrobat Extension for both Edge and Chrome in the environment and both browsers are updated weekly so I don't suspect the extension is the culprit and since Edge is based on the Chromium engine it has to be setting that is specific that MS has made to the Edge browser in 151. I have run out of options and workarounds to try with Edge short of downgrading the impacted users or have them switch to Chrome as their default browser.
Any insight to what has changed in Edge or additional steps/settings I could look for would be appreciated.

Hello THG_EpyX,
You can try temporarily disabling the Adobe Acrobat extension in Edge 151:
If the PDF then loads, the issue is likely with the interaction between Edge 151 and the Adobe extension. The "Allow access to file URLs" setting may help local files, but it would not explain the same failure with web URLs.
If the problem remains with the extension disabled, please share the full Edge version from edge://settings/help and whether the affected PDF uses a local file:// path or an HTTPS address.
Go to edge://extensions, click the details button for the Adobe acrobat extension, toggle ON the "Allow access to file URLs" option
