“I have Windows 10 Pro 22H2. My PC is activated with my Microsoft account and is not connected to an organisation. KB5072653 and the ESU consumer component are installed, but Windows Update has no ‘Enroll now’ option. The ESU enrolment says ‘Something has gone wrong. We cannot enroll you at this time.’ The system reports ESUEligibilityResult 0x4.”

For consumer Windows 10 devices, there is no supported alternative enrollment method outside Windows Update.

Based on the described state, the supported checks are:

Verify the device is still on Windows 10, version 22H2.
In Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates and install any newer updates offered.
If the device has not yet installed the November 11, 2025 out-of-band update, install KB5071959, then restart the PC. This update resolved a known issue where the Windows 10 Consumer ESU enrollment wizard might fail on eligible devices.
After restart, open Settings > Update & Security or Settings > Windows Update and look again for the Enroll Now link or retry enrollment.
