Welcome Jerry Huggins,

Thank you for posting. Since the PDF files are being created but appear corrupted when opened, I'd like to gather a little more information while also suggesting a couple of quick checks.

Could you please let me know:

  • Approximately how large are the affected PDF files (for example, 0 KB, a few KB, or several MB)?
  • Are you able to open the same PDF on a different computer or mobile device?
  • Does the issue affect every scanned document or only certain scans?

In the meantime, please try these quick tests:

  • Save a new scan to a local folder such as Documents instead of a network drive, USB drive, or cloud-synced folder
  • Open the PDF using Microsoft Edge by right-clicking the file and selecting Open with > Microsoft Edge
  • Check the file size by right-clicking the PDF, selecting Properties, and noting the Size. A file size of 0 KB may indicate the scan was not saved correctly
  • Create a new test scan using a different PDF filename and save location to see whether the issue occurs consistently.

Problem resolved. Do not utilize the "HP Smart App" for the M234sdw Printer. This will result in a faulty scanned to saved .pdf output for both Wi-Fi and USB. Use instead the "HP App" which will provide a useable saved .pdf
