Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help us troubleshoot an issue with our PowerPoint add-in that was approved and published but isn't appearing in the PowerPoint desktop application.

Background:

Tie is a PowerPoint add-in that we submitted to Microsoft AppSource. It went through the full validation process (Ticket#[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]), we addressed all must-fix and test-blocker issues, and the app was officially approved and published on July 27, 2026.

The Issue:

Despite being approved and live on the dashboard, the add-in does not appear in the Add-ins Center within the PowerPoint desktop application. It IS visible and functional in the browser/web version of PowerPoint, and it can be found on appsource.microsoft.com.

Additional details:

  • When accessing the add-in from appsource.microsoft.com and opening it in PowerPoint desktop, an error message appears (screenshot available upon request).
  • After restarting PowerPoint, the add-in disappears entirely from the desktop application.
  • The error alert that appears cannot be dismissed.
  • This issue is reproducible across multiple machines, multiple user accounts, and different versions of PowerPoint (all on latest versions).
  • Multiple customers have also reported the same issue on both web and desktop.
  • Microsoft's Teams App Validation team confirmed they can see and use the add-in without issues from their environment on both web and desktop, and suggested we raise this here in the Developer Community forum.

What we're looking for:

Any guidance on why an approved and published PowerPoint add-in would not appear in the desktop Add-ins Center, or how to escalate this for investigation. We have customers waiting for access to this add-in and this is a high priority for us.

Environment details:

  • App name: Tie
  • App version: 1.0.0.0
  • Platform: PowerPoint (both web and desktop)
  • Issue specific to: PowerPoint Desktop application
  • PowerPoint versions: Latest (all testers on current versions)

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Dear Jack Bonomo,

Based on your description, I understand the urgency, especially since the add-in has successfully passed AppSource validation, was published on July 27, 2026, and you are currently unable to access it from the PowerPoint desktop application.

As an initial step, please review this article Troubleshoot user errors with Office Add-ins, which covers common scenarios where Office add-ins fail to load, cannot be installed, or do not behave as expected in desktop applications.

When accessing the add-in from appsource.microsoft.com and opening it in PowerPoint desktop, an error message appears (screenshot available upon request).

I noticed that your post mentions an error message appears when opening the add-in from AppSource in PowerPoint Desktop. However, I have not yet received the screenshot that was referenced.

Could you please resend the screenshot of the error message? Having the exact error and screenshot will allow me to review the issue more thoroughly and determine whether there are any additional factors involved beyond the manifest configuration that you identified.

I look forward to your update. The additional information should help me identify the next troubleshooting steps.

Thank you very much for your valuable time and your cooperation.
