Hi Leslie,
Thank you for reaching out.
Spam filtering for your Exchange mailbox is managed through your organization’s Microsoft 365 security policies. Please contact your organization’s IT administrator and ask them to review and strengthen the following Exchange Online anti-spam settings:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Defender portal.
- Go to Email & collaboration > Policies & rules.
- Select Threat policies > Anti-spam.
- Open the applicable Inbound anti-spam policy.
- Review the actions for:
- Spam
- High-confidence spam
- Phishing
- High-confidence phishing
- Bulk email
- Configure suspicious messages to be sent to quarantine instead of being delivered to the mailbox.
- Review the Bulk email threshold and lower it if stricter bulk-email filtering is required.
- Add persistent unwanted senders or domains to the Tenant Allow/Block List at: https://security.microsoft.com/tenantAllowBlockList
- Save the changes and monitor the results.
In the meantime, you can take these steps in Outlook:
- Select the unwanted message.
- Choose Report > Report junk or Report phishing.
- Block repeat senders under Settings > Mail > Junk email.
- Avoid replying to suspicious messages or selecting links within them.
- Empty the Junk Email folder when necessary.
Please note that no spam filter can block every unwanted message. Making the policies stricter can reduce spam, but it may also cause some legitimate emails to be quarantined. Your IT administrator can determine the appropriate filtering level for your organization.
