I am getting "Content Not Yet Available", Sorry it looks like this page was added from another computer that hasn't synced yet.

1st) How do I figure out which person/computer is causing this issue?

2nd) I have clicked the "sync notebook" on my laptop's app. It will not update to today's date/time. It is saying that 8/14/26 was the last sync. All my other notebooks have synched, so what won't this one?

Please help.

Hi Jennifer

Thank you for sharing the details of your concern.

As this is a user-to-user community forum, I do not have the ability to directly access or modify your account or service. However, I can provide guidance, recommend next steps, share applicable resources, and direct you to the appropriate support channels so the issue can be investigated further.

Based on the message you are seeing, “Content Not Yet Available” usually means that the page or section was created or edited from another device, but that device has not successfully synced the full content to OneDrive or SharePoint yet. As a result, your current device can see that the page exists, but it cannot retrieve the actual content because the latest changes have not fully uploaded to the cloud.

Since your other notebooks are syncing successfully and only this specific notebook is stuck with the last sync date of 8/14/26, this appears to be a notebook-specific sync issue rather than a general account, network, or OneNote application issue.

I recommend the following checks:

1/ Open the notebook in OneNote for the web

  • Go to OneDrive or SharePoint where the notebook is stored.
  • Open the affected notebook in the browser.
  • If the content is also missing in OneNote for the web, the page likely has not been fully synced from the device where it was originally created or edited.
  • If the content appears correctly in OneNote for the web, the issue may be related to the OneNote app or local cache on your laptop.

2/ Check the sync status in OneNote

  • Open OneNote on your laptop.
  • Go to File > Info > View Sync Status.
  • User's image
  • Locate the affected notebook.
  • Select Sync Now and check whether any error code or message appears.
  • If there is an error code, please provide a screenshot so I can review it further.

3/ Check who last edited the notebook

  • In OneNote desktop app.
  • Go to History > Recent Edits.
  • Select a date range such as Today, Last 7 Days, or a range since 8/14/26.
  • User's image
  • You can also enable Show Authors to help identify who recently edited the affected page or section.
  • This may help determine which user may have created or edited the content that has not synced yet.

4/ Check other devices that may have edited the notebook

  • Check any other device where this notebook may have been opened or edited, such as another laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone.
  • If one of those devices still shows the missing content, please copy the content into a new page or section, then allow OneNote to sync again.
  • After that, verify whether the new page or section appears correctly in OneNote for the web.

If the issue persist even after these checks, please reach out to your school’s IT department for further assistance. They may need to review the notebook location, account permissions, OneDrive or SharePoint sync status, and any organization-level restrictions that may be affecting this specific notebook.

Additionally, if needed, your IT team can also raise a support ticket with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for deeper investigation. They have access to backend configurations and can perform a more in-depth investigation. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

Content Not Yet Available usually means the page was added from another device and that content has not fully synced to the server yet, or the client is offline or not properly synced.

    1. Manually check sync status for that notebook:
      • In OneNote, go to File > View Sync Status.
      • Click Sync Now for that notebook, or Sync All.
      • If the notebook is shared, make sure Sync automatically whenever there are changes is selected.
      • If OneNote shows an error code in the sync status window, use that code to troubleshoot the specific failure.
    2. If the notebook still shows an old last sync time:
      • Wait a few minutes and try syncing again.
      • For some sync issues, OneNote recommends pressing SHIFT+F9 or using Sync Now in the Notebook Sync Status dialog box.
      • Leave OneNote open and idle for a while after starting sync.
    3. Check whether the storage location is available:
      • If the notebook is stored on OneDrive, SharePoint, or a local network location, verify that location is reachable.
      • If it is on SharePoint or a network share, the server may be temporarily offline or unavailable.
      • If needed, confirm the root server location is accessible or check with the SharePoint or IT administrator.
    4. Check whether the page was deleted or moved during a sync problem:
      • Open the shared notebook.
      • On the menu bar, click Notebooks > Deleted Notes > View Deleted Notes.
      • If the page is there, restore it to the correct section.
    5. Check the notebook recycle bin if the page was moved and then deleted:
      • In OneNote, go to History > Notebook Recycle Bin.
      • If the original page exists there, restore it or permanently delete it.
    6. If the notebook is stored in an unsupported or problematic location:
      • Move the notebook by using OneNote itself, not Windows Explorer or file-sync tools.
      • In OneNote, go to File > Share, choose OneDrive, and then click Move Notebook.
      • Do not use Windows Offline Files for OneNote notebooks. This can create duplicate sections or data loss.

For the question about identifying which person or computer caused it: the available guidance does not provide a way to identify the specific device or person from within OneNote. The supported approach is to check the notebook’s sync status, resolve the sync error, and verify whether the notebook storage location is available.
