Detailed description:

Hi,

I'm encountering an error while installing the Windows 11 Insider Preview Feature Update (build 26300.9032) on the Dev channel (targeting the 25H2/26H2 release).

System configuration:

  • Windows 11 Enterprise Insider Preview, version 26H2
  • Current build: 10.0.26300.8935
  • Target update: 26300.9032
  • Insider channel: Dev
  • Device: HP

Error: The update installation fails with error code 0x8007001f.

Troubleshooting performed so far: I ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and /ScanHealth, both of which completed without reporting any errors. However, while reviewing CBS.log during a deeper repair attempt, I found the following:

  • A file is flagged as corrupted: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\UMDF\EhStorPwdDrv.dll, and the attempt to repair it fails with error 160.
  • Immediately after, a CSI warning indicates it was unable to restore the payload .cip file for the component amd64_microsoft-onecore-i..atedusermode-policy (version 10.0.26100.1743) from the local backup store, and the process fell back to Windows Update as the repair source — a fallback that apparently doesn't complete successfully, which appears to be causing the 0x8007001f error during the feature update.

Question: How can I permanently fix the corruption of this component/driver in the component store, given that neither the local backup copy nor the Windows Update fallback are able to repair it? Is this a known issue with this Insider build (EhStorPwdDrv.dll), or would you recommend a component store reset / clean reinstall of the Insider channel?

I'm attaching the full dism.log and CBS.log for reference.Detailed description:
