~~I need to be able to open *.XLS and *.CSV files, without converting to xlsx or docx.

    Excel 2000 can open both .XLS and .CSV files directly, without converting them to .XLSX or any other newer format. In fact, .XLS is the native Excel 2000 workbook format, so you can open, edit, and save those files normally.
