After recent updates to my windows 10 pc it now takes a long time to become usable. As long as 40min before the mouse is functioning. I have tried to install a wireless mouse but Bluetooth not working. where do I go from here?

Please check hard drive's health using third-party CrystalDiskInfo tool and show its window.

Describe your PC model and configuration.

    Try this in order:

    1. Restart once more
      • Select Start > Power > Restart.
      • This can clear temporary Bluetooth and driver issues after updates.
    2. Install Windows updates again and let all updates finish
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates and install everything available.
      • Slow input after updates can be related to device drivers, and Windows Update can deliver mouse, keyboard, and Bluetooth driver fixes.
    3. Check the mouse itself
      • Turn the mouse off and back on.
      • If it uses batteries, replace or recharge them.
      • If the mouse is slow or unresponsive, close open apps and then restart the PC.
    4. If using a USB mouse or wireless USB receiver, test the hardware path
      • Unplug the USB device, wait a moment, and plug it back in.
      • Try a different USB port.
      • If using a USB hub, remove it and connect the device directly to the PC.
      • Make sure the device has power and the cable or receiver is not damaged.
    5. If Bluetooth is not working, check Bluetooth basics
      • Make sure the PC actually supports Bluetooth.
      • Turn Bluetooth off and back on:
        • Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices
        • Turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on again.
      • Make sure the mouse is in pairing mode and close to the PC.
      • Make sure Airplane mode is off.
    6. Update the Bluetooth driver
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Bluetooth.
      • Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
      • Restart the PC after the driver update.
      • If Windows does not find a newer driver, install the latest Bluetooth driver from the PC manufacturer.
    7. If Bluetooth has disappeared completely
      • On Windows 10, run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in Get Help.
      • Then check Device Manager for the Bluetooth adapter.
      • If Bluetooth options are missing or grayed out, this can be caused by driver problems, stopped services, hardware problems, or recent Windows updates.
    8. Test whether the mouse hardware is failing
      • Connect the mouse to another PC.
      • If it does not work there either, replace the mouse.

Because the PC is taking up to 40 minutes before the mouse works, the most relevant next steps are:

    • finish all Windows Update installs,
    • update the Bluetooth and mouse-related drivers,
    • test with a wired USB mouse or a wireless receiver plugged directly into the PC,
    • and avoid using a USB hub while testing.

If the Bluetooth mouse only delays after being idle, Bluetooth devices can enter hibernation after 8–10 minutes of inactivity, and reconnecting can take several seconds. That does not explain a 40-minute delay at startup, so startup driver or update issues are more likely.
