Since the touchscreen is still listed in Device Manager and already reinstalled, the next supported steps are:
- Restart the device first. Intermittent touch issues can sometimes clear after a full restart.
- Install all Windows updates, including optional updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced options.
- Make sure Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows is turned On.
- Go back to Windows Update and select Check for updates.
- If View optional updates appears, open it, select all optional updates, and choose Download and install.
- Restart the device after updates finish, even if Windows does not require it.
- In Device Manager > Human Interface Devices, confirm HID-compliant touch screen is enabled. If more than one HID-compliant touch screen entry appears, repeat the enable/disable check for each one.
- If the issue continues after updates and restart, test whether the touchscreen works outside Windows, such as in BIOS. If it also fails there, that points away from Windows and toward the device hardware.
- If Windows is fully updated and the problem remains intermittent, contact the device manufacturer for hardware-level support.
For a missing or unstable touch device, a hard power cycle and then scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager is also a recognized next step:
- Shut down the device.
- Hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
- Start Windows again.
- Open Device Manager and scan for hardware changes.
