Every time I crop and save an image, it reverts to the original photo.

It sounds like Designer is keeping the crop in the editor but not applying it to the saved/downloaded image.

To help narrow down the issue:

Are you using Microsoft Designer in a web browser, or the Designer app?

After cropping, are you using Download, or another Save option?

Does this happen with every image you try, or only one particular image?

As a quick test, try cropping the same image using the Windows Photos app or Paint and save it as a new copy. If that works correctly, the issue is likely specific to Designer.

John, I showed the Microsoft advisor the issue in both the app and website forms. He tried the same things that I did. It does the same thing in both the app and the website versions. It always reverts back to the original unedited form. This started about a week ago. I assume Microsoft made updates to make it new and improved, and the changes created unforeseen consequences like the one I am experiencing. I realize I can use other programs, but I was just getting used to this new app and thought it was pretty good. I guess I will use another program. Thanks for your reply. Take care!

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. Answering number 2, I tried to save, save as, and download. All of them reverted to the unedited version. Question 3: It happens every time, with different pictures.

Since it only started about a week ago, it may be a recent change or regression. I would report it through the feedback option in Designer and mention that it affects both the app and web version. That gives the Designer team the details they need to investigate it.

Unfortunately, until it is corrected, using Photos, Paint, or another editor for cropping may be the practical workaround.

This is a known issue reported with Microsoft Designer where the crop looks correct in the editor, but the saved image returns to the original.

A practical workaround is:

Open the image in the Microsoft Photos app.
Select Edit image > Crop.
Save it as a copy.
If Photos shows the same behavior, try Paint instead.

Designer also supports image editing tools such as crop, rotate, and download, but if the saved result keeps reverting, reporting it from inside Designer is recommended:

Open Microsoft Designer.
Select Send feedback.
Include the Designer version and, if possible, a short screen recording showing the crop reverting after save.

If editing in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app is available, it also includes Crop & rotate and an Undo option while editing, then Download to save the updated image.
