Yes, but there is an important distinction between using Microsoft Learn to study before the exam and accessing Microsoft Learn during the Pearson VUE exam.

The AI disclaimer on Microsoft Learn does not mean that the Microsoft Learn content itself is prohibited study material. Microsoft Learn modules, learning paths, documentation, and practice assessments are legitimate resources for preparing for AZ-900. The fact that some Microsoft Learn content says it was “authored with AI” does not make that content prohibited for studying.

However, if your Pearson VUE exam instructions say you cannot use AI, you should not interpret that as permission to use Microsoft Learn during the exam. In particular, you should not use Copilot, ChatGPT, an AI-powered search/assistant, or any other AI tool to obtain or generate answers while taking the exam.

There is another issue: whether Microsoft Learn itself can be opened during the exam is a separate question from whether its content contains AI-generated material. Some Microsoft certification exams (but NOT AZ-900) allow access to Microsoft Learn during the exam, but those rules can vary by exam delivery method and current Microsoft policy.

No. AI cannot be used during the exam.

The Microsoft Certification Exam Candidate Agreement explicitly lists the following as misconduct: “Using Artificial Intelligence or related products or services in any way to assist you.”

For study before the exam, Microsoft Learn training and Practice Assessments are valid preparation resources:

    • The AI-900 study guide recommends training and hands-on experience before taking the exam.
    • Practice Assessments are available at no cost and can be attempted as many times as desired.
    • Practice Assessments provide answer rationales and links to additional learning resources.
    • Practice Assessments are authored with assistance from AI.

That means Microsoft Learn modules and Practice Assessments can be used to prepare before the exam, even if those resources include AI-authored or AI-assisted content. The restriction applies to assistance during the exam session.

Also, a Microsoft Q&A moderator answer states: “No you cannot use any AI in an exam.”
